Courtnee Miles

At a young age, Courtnee MeShon Miles knew the stage was calling her name. She had her first dance recital at the age of four years old, and ever since then, she’s been hooked. Paired with her love of writing, Courtnee knew that directing plays opened her eyes to a new aspect of theatre, expanding her passion for the craft. After obtaining her Bachelor of Arts degree in Broadcast Journalism with a minor in Theatre, she was featured in an independent film and a web series. Courtnee is currently a Teaching Artist at various theatres in the metro Atlanta area, such as the Alliance Theatre, Serenbe Playhouse, the Cultural Arts Council of Douglasville/Douglas County, Jitterbug Performing Arts, and more.

Artistic Profile:

Paired with her love of writing, Courtnee knew that directing plays opened her eyes to a new aspect of theatre, expanding her passion for the craft. After obtaining her Bachelor of Arts degree in Broadcast Journalism with a minor in Theatre, she was featured in an independent film and a web series. Courtnee also has written for several publications and interned for CBS Radio Atlanta and Lucky Dog Filmworks. Courtnee is currently a Teaching Artist at various theatres in the metro-Atlanta area, such as the Alliance Theatre, Serenbe Playhouse, the Cultural Arts Council of Douglasville/Douglas County, Jitterbug Performing Arts and more. Her work as a Teaching Artist at the Alliance Theatre includes introducing children six-years-old and younger to the craft of acting. She gets the most gratification from interacting with students and allowing them to explore their creativity in a positive way. Courtnee has recently joined the team of writers at BroadwayWorld.com and is very excited! She knows this an experience she will always cherish.

  • Special Education Paraprofessional, Douglas County Schools, 2015-Present
    • Assists teacher in classroom management, effectively teaches students of varied age and academic levels, provides one-on-one and small group instruction.
  • Teaching Artist, Jitterbug Performing Arts, May 2016-July 2016
    • Utilizes varied artistic mediums to produce daily showcases, designs and presents exciting lessons that actively engage learners, allows children to explore their creativity.
  • Teaching Artist Alliance Theatre, 2013-Present
    • Introduces children to the craft of acting and creative drama, directs weekly showcases, writes scripts, plans and teaches lessons geared toward creative and theatrical development.
  • Teaching Artist, Cultural Arts Council of Douglasville/Douglas County, 2013-Present
    • Teaches private acting workshops to children ages 4-11 years old, instructs creative lessons geared toward families in Douglas County and surrounding areas.

Sample Programs:

  • “Little Dreamers Creative Drama Workshop”: This workshop will introduce young artists to the elements of theatre through acting, character development, singing, design, and team building by using their imaginations and retelling popular stories. This class is a great way to develop an awareness of personal space and hone focus skills.
